Faith is the Substance of Things
April 21, 2021
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
11 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Faith is the substance that adds value to us who are believers. This word "substance" has been used in other translations of the Bible with the word "assurance," or we can use the word “reality” here as well for the things hoped for.
Faith is not just believing that we will experience God someday in the sweet by and by. No, faith has substance. It is a reality to us, an assurance that gives us a God-kind of hope that is a knowing kind of hope. God is more real to me now than when I first met Him almost 40 years ago. He is more satisfying to me as He pours out His mercy and His grace upon me and my family.
In the next few days ahead we will be looking a little closer at the words "hope" and "evidence" as being building blocks that are found within this scripture as we begin to build upon the foundation that we call our faith. As new believers, as well as those who are mature in your faith, it is a good thing to rehearse what we believe so that we can encourage those that are in hopeless situations all around us to find this faith.
Psalm 34:8 (KJV)
9 "O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him."
Father, I desire to be filled with the substance of faith, with Your presence and Your blessings while I am still breathing here on the earth. Thank You, Father, that You give us the ability to share with others that You are what is considered to be reality here, and that You are satisfying to our souls. We put our trust fully in You. In Jesus's name, Amen.
Blessings on the journey. and remember that the best is yet to come.
