Here Is Our Assignment
February 10, 2021
Luke 4:18–19 (KJV)
18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 "To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
Straight from the heart of God is where our mission got its unbelievable beginning. I read this in an article where it said that God sent us His only beloved Son into the world. Then Jesus sent to us the Holy Spirit, who prepares us to be sent out into the world.
This morning, as you are reading this devotional, we will have already left Tulsa, Oklahoma with the destination of New Orleans, Louisiana with a mission from God. We will meet up with other men of God from across the country so we can spread the good news of Jesus Christ, who is reaching out to the lost with an encouraging word of good news to the poor and to the broken-hearted.
Jesus was able to fulfill His mission because God had anointed him with the Holy Spirit. Jesus came to show us how we can be anointed with the Holy Spirit as well. The power of God is sending us out into the world to set those that are in captivity free, and bring hope back into the lives of those that have lost sight of who they are in Christ.
Father, as we go out this year into the uncertain waters of the unknown at Mardi Gras, I ask that you make us aware of those that are around us that you have set us up for divine appointments with them. I ask that the gifts of the Holy Spirit help us to clearly see those that are ready to receive Your Son, Jesus, into their hearts. We pray for the safety of our team of witnesses to arrive safely and carry out our assignments. In Jesus's name, Amen.
Blessings on the journey, and remember that the best is yet to come.
