John 1:1-5 (KJV)
1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 "The same was in the beginning with God.
3 "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 "In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."
Jesus, who was the light of the world, came during a dark time. The Word of God says that the darkness did not comprehend it. In one definition, the dictionary says that the darkness could not grasp the nature of this light. This darkness could not lay its hold on it. You know that darkness flees from the light. Jesus is the light that signed the brightest in the darkness. Praise God!
Today, we see that the darkness is trying to put out that light. Christians are being persecuted all over the world, but the world cannot overcome, or put out, this light. They misunderstand the essential part of that light in their lives. By not recognizing it, they reject the very answer that God sent to them and decided to hide in the darkness.
It is an honor to bring the light of the world that dwells in us to a lost and dying world. When you see someone receive Jesus into their heart, and that darkness leave them, there is nothing like it.
Father, I am so grateful for Jesus, Your Word, Your only begotten Son, the light of the world who drove out the darkness in my life. Thank You for giving us a joy unspeakable and full of glory! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Blessings on the journey, and remember that the best is yet to come.
