2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (KJV)
16 "For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
It seems to me that there lies before us this threat of a whole lot of our family and friends leaving us behind as death snatches away our loved ones from us. As Christians we have ahope within us, not a hope like the world has who struggle with uncertainty, but a blessed assurance.
"Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine
Heir of salvation, purchase of God
Born of His spirit, washed in His blood
"Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior, am happy and blessed
Watching and waiting, looking above
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love,
Oh oh
"This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
"oh oh oh oh
Oh, what a Savior, wonderful Jesus"
Father, in those moments when we face death's door, though it may be bittersweet, and even though we may be separated from what our eyes see naturally, we as believers see into a realm that is more real than the one we live in now. This one temporal, but Yours is eternal. Thank You for giving us times of refreshing in You. In Jesus's name we pray, Amen.
Blessings on the journey, and remember that the best is yet to come.
