I had a conversation with a waitress at a restaurant on Sunday morning. Because of all this trouble with the corona virus we got on the subject of where she would go if she were to die that today. She responded with "I don’t know" saying that she had been to church a long time ago, and had even confessed Jesus as her Savior, and been baptized in water, but because of her drinking she would most likely go to hell.
Her family had left her over her drinking addiction and she was having difficulty because of many years of abuse. The Spirit of the Lord started moving, and you could feel His presence directing the conversation. She kept saying to us that she needed to go back to church. My heart was breaking as I shared with her out of the Book of Ephesians, Chapter 2, Verses 8 & 9:
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 "Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Billy’ Graham said that “grace,” according to the dictionary, is the "unmerited favor of God toward mankind. The word “grace” is used over 170 times in the New Testament alone. Grace is not bought. It is a free gift of almighty God to needy mankind.“
Definition of "unmerited:" not adequately earned or deserved.
Thank You, Father, for reminding me of Your great love that You have for us, Your children. Help us to share with those that have stumbled along the way and how we don’t get what we deserve praise God. But instead we receive Your amazing grace undeservingly. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Blessings on the journey, and remember the best is yet to come.
