Isaiah 61:1 (ESV)
1 "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound"
I would have loved to have been there to see the look on the faces of all those that were in the synagogue that day when Jesus opened the scroll and found where it was written in Isaiah 61:1. Jesus stood up and spoke these words. Think about it, these words were spoken before but there was something different this time.
I’ve got good news, my friends, family, and all that are reading this devotion with me today. Jesus has, and is, and will continue to proclaim the good news to the poor. God sent Jesus to announce and proclaim freedom for the prisoners. To proclaim recovery or sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
Luke 4:20-21 (KJV)
20 "And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 "And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears."
Dear Heavenly Farther, I feel Your presence moving all across this globe with such a demonstration of power being released even now as we pray. Thank You for setting Your people free today. Thank You for healing the souls of men from the snare of the devil. In Jesus' name, Amen.
