As we conclude this last devotion for the week, I feel impressed to, and want to, speak from my heart about our destiny here in the Kingdom of God. I have this drive to share the gospel with as many people as possible before the Lord takes us home. I made a decision after the death of my son over 40 years ago that I was going to steal as many souls out of the kingdom of darkness in retaliation against the devil for taking away my son's life.
God spoke to me in my early Christian walk that I was like His servant Gideon. Hey, at that time I didn’t even know who this guy Gideon was! Israel was crying out to God for some kind of relief from persecution that came form their lack of devotion to God.
God referred to Gideon as a "mighty warrior" in Judges 6:12, while he was hiding in a wine press secretly threshing grain. That was the way I felt at the time. I had very little confidence in what I could do. I failed so many times that it seem like it would be impossible to accomplish the task at hand. But this is our moment in history to step up to the plate and let God use us as He wills.
Judges 6:13 (NASB)
13 "Then Gideon said to him, “O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
I hear the church falling into this same kind of questioning with this virus that is continually in our face. But be strong and bold as a lion because the Lord is with us. Gideon may have been slow in being convinced that God was going to use him, but he became an faithful follower at obeying the Lord's instruction.
Father, we may be slow in believe that You will use us, and we thank you for Your patience. We will arise and shine! In Jesus' name! Can I get an Amen?
Blessings on the journey, and remember that the best is yet to come.
