John 21:20-23 (ESV)
20 "Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?”
21 "When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?”
22 "Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!”
23 "So the saying spread abroad among the brothers that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”
Here is a song we sang back in the day:
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace."
We spend so much time judging others that we miss the point that God is speaking to us. Looking into the eyes of Jesus is a way to stay focused on the call upon your own life. I have always seen my surroundings change in a moment when I choose not to get so caught up in other people's messes. My messes are enough to deal with. Praise God.
Father, my heart is so moved in your glorious grace that I don’t have time to judge Your people. I thank You, Holy Spirit, for setting me free from the task that belongs to You only. Give me more time to worship You and I won’t even notice when the things that have concerned me the most fade away. I pray for the unity of faith that is rising up in Your people, and I will not be moved aside. In Jesus's name, Amen.
Blessings on the journey, and remember that the best is yet to come.
