"My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand"
Psalm 18:2 ESV
2 "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold"
Matthew 7:25 (ESV)
25 "The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."
The circumstances that Jesus faced then are similar to what we face in today’s world. There were the same selfish, me-first people that needed to hear His message. His message was one that promoted being humble to becoming a servant that is filled with compassion.
When Hurricane Mitch hit Honduras back in the late '90s I saw a place where a whole village was wiped away and looked like a river bed. The only thing left standing was a church right out in the middle of the debris. The foundation of that old church kept it from being washed away when “the rains came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall."
Thank You, Father, for giving us Your word were we can put it to work and not just hear it only. I want to be considered a wise person and not build on sinking sand.
Blessings on the journey, and remember that the best is yet to come.
