Things Hoped For

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
11 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Faith is the substance that holds it all together. In Hebrews Chapter 10, if you look at the context here, it gives the reader a clear view on how this New Covenant found in Jesus Christ is far more superior to that of the Old Covenant. It tells us how the believers had grown tired and wanted to quit, to give up, right before receiving what was promised to them.
Remember faith, it says in Hebrews 11:1, is the substance that gives you the something you get to grab ahold of, those things that you have hoped for. Have you ever been so discouraged that you can’t seem to muster up the energy to continue on any further?
Our writer here gives us here power packed examples, one after another of our Hero Hall of Faith:
“By faith, Noah obeyed God and built an ark to save his family from the flood (Genesis 6:9 – 7:24).
"By faith, Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son, believing God would provide a lamb (Genesis 22:1–19).
"By faith, Moses chose to side with the Hebrews rather than stay in the Egyptian palace (Exodus 2 – 4).
"By faith, Rahab risked her life and sheltered enemy spies in her home (Joshua 2:1–24).”
Father, I pray that I will be able to follow after these heroes of faith's examples when discouragement and distraction may come my way. I lift up my family and friends that are so close to receiving those things hoped for. In Jesus's name, Amen.
Blessings on the journey, and remember that the best is yet to come.
